Two Minute Get To Know - Christine Warner

We're all busy writers, mothers, bosses, employees…well, you get the picture. There isn't enough time to GET TO KNOW everyone. But if you have two minutes, you'll meet a few authors and aspiring writers.

Today we'd like you to meet :

Name: Christine Warner

Two Second Bio:

I live in a small town in Michigan with my husband and 2 of my 3 kids. We have 2 golden retrievers (best dogs ever) and 2 cats (best cats ever)…*leaning in to whisper* there is a slight tug of war of egos so I have to say that they are each the best ever…rolling eyes…you know how pets are. I work a couple of long days a week at a hospital and I love to write!!!

Website: http://christine-warner.com/

Published? : Yay, I am! My debut book, Some Like it in Handcuffs releases March 23, 2012 with The Wild Rose Press and they just contracted me for a second book titled Two Timing the Boss.

Agent? :

I’m still working on the agent thing. There are a few I’d love to work with and I sub to them on occasion and hope that one day they’ll sign me on.

A Few Things About You

Real Name or Pseudonym:

If I could’ve thought of something amazingly exciting I would’ve gone for it, but since I couldn’t, I stuck with my real name.

Currently Reading:

Pleasure reading is rare for me these days, so it’s slow going as lately I’m writing more than reading. One for the Road by Lynne Marshall, Until There was You by Kristan Higgins and Legacy by Myra Hargrave McIlvain.

Next on Your Reading List:

I’m a huge fan of true crime author Ann Rule and she just had a new release on November 29th, Don’t Look Behind You…that’s next on my list.

Facebook or Twitter (include account name):

You can find me on facebook under Christine Warner or check out my author page and LIKE me there @ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Christine-Warner/143430882396013 I’m also on Twitter under ChristinesWords.

Two authors (living or dead) you'd want to have dinner with:

I bet you can guess I’m going to say Ann Rule. The next choice is a hard one for me…too many authors I enjoy. I just read a series by Catherine Mann that I enjoyed and would love to chat with her about, and the book I’m reading by Kristin Higgins is fun and I like her humor, so I think it’d be fun to dine with her too. Oops, I named three…lol

Jet-setter or armchair traveler:

Mostly arm chair, but the last few years the hubs and I have been taking some great road trips in different directions of the country. Hope to travel more.

Tea or Coffee: Coffee…isn’t that a requirement for a writer?.

Words to live by: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Your Writing

Writing music: I need peace and quiet. I’d be too distracted with music on.

Character Inspirations:

I’m inspired to create characters that have various looks and traits of people I know and respect or am curious about or are in the news. Building a hero or heroine can come from anywhere…at least for me.

Plot Inspirations:

Again, that can come from anywhere. I’ll read a news article and something will pop into my head, or a conversation with a friend, or just a sentence I hear on television. Something little can inspire a whole story for me. I actually have a file on my desktop dedicated to future story plots quickly mapped out. Hopefully I’ll get to write them all. Lol The idea for Some Like it in Handcuffs came to me by accident. I actually came up with the title and from those 5 words the story was born.

Setting Inspirations:

In Some Like it in Handcuffs I made up a city in Michigan that is a combination of several other towns in Michigan I’m familiar with. It was fun. But I have a sequel planned titled Some Like it in Vegas, and since I’ve never been to Las Vegas, I’ll have to use my research skills and annoy some friends that have been there with numerous questions. lol

Plotter (carefully plot books) or Pantser (write from the seat of your pants):

I’m neither. I like to say I have one leg in and one leg out. I plot to a certain point then write by the seat of my pants. Sometimes this trips me up and I have to put stories aside to really think things through and sometimes my stories lead in other directions I hadn’t planned on. Also, I’m discovering that each story writes differently for me. Some I can just write with a quick outline, others I write an outline for each chapter and then there are others that I have a basic plot point and character sketches and the story just flows from my fingertips.

A huge thanks to Christine for sitting on my hot seat today! Congratulations on your upcoming release, I wish you many happy sales in 2012 and beyond.

Thanks for having me Sheri, it was fun.

Love these two minute interviews.
Hey, Christine. *waves* It was great getting to know you better.
Seems you and I have more in common than just our choices in music. We are both plotnsers. Plotters and pantsers combined.

Wonderful interview, ladies!! Christine, I can't wait to buy your book!
Happy Writing!

You ladies are awesome! Thanks for the support!!

Tammy, if you like Ann Rule's book, go back and get her older work. She's an amazing writer and has quite a history. She actually worked alongside Ted Bundy around the time he was mapping out his notorious murders and she's so interesting.

Anyway, thanks again for the well wishes...this was a fun interview :)

Loved the two minute interview, ladies. Animals seem to grow on the heart and become part of the family. Never thought a cat would come into our house, hubby doesn't care for them much. My daughter moved home with hers and the cat just loves him. LOL He's getting used to her. The other day it slept on his lap. The dog was very jealous.
Can't wait for the new release, Christine.

Great interview, Christine. It's always nice to learn a little about another writer's process. I say I'm a little bit of both - plotter and pantser too. I write a couple of sentences for each chapter just to keep me on track.

Hope you have lots of sales. :o)
