Sound Off...I Can't Hear You!

This is the day you get to sound off. Tell us what happened to you last week, we want the good, the bad and the ugly. Tell us what made you mad, sad, happy, we want to hear it all.  This is where we get to come together and support one another. Anything goes, let it all out.

Happy Reading and Writing.

When night falls passions blaze.

Ooo, ooo, me! I finished Treacherous Tumbles, a paranormal/historical novella. Woohoo! Unfortunately, I'm not motivated enough to edit anything that isn't mine. But I'll happily edit anyone else's stuff.

This week i hurt the feelings of a dear friend and it saddens me. You know who you are SO VERY SORRY!

Lets face it, women can be bitches. Sorry to hear that Brenda! Carey, sometimes we have attacks of verbal diarrhea, I really hate when that happens! A.R., submit your stuff! ORDERS! :) What pisses me off? Well, a lot of things. Second guessing oneself, doubting ones own voice . . . you know the usual writing woes. Ask me again next week, it will prolly be the same thing!

Cheers!

I hate second guessing myself too. Also, I hate being burried by my own fears, like getting my MS out there. I need to start querying, but self-doubt keeps me stuck in the corner, babbling like an idiot. Crap.....

Me too Brenda. I want to send it out, but I don't want to be rejected. :(

Sorry to hear that Brenda! It is hard to watch your kids in pain. I know he won't listen right now but if that's the way she is he doesn't need her. He will realize It after the hurt eases. Just hug him and tell him you love him. That's all you can do.

I know Jodie the self doubt is a real pain in my butt! We all suffer from it from time to time. I had a bout of it not that long ago. Oh and my mouth yeah that gets me in all sorts of trouble. I don't mean to but it happens. I also think it is hard to express yourself in emails sometimes. But when I suffer from open mouth insert foot syndrome I try to say I am sorry. So I eat crow a lot! LOL! Let me tell you it doesn't taste very good but definitely not worth loosing a friend over. Stop doubting yourself. I know easier said than done.

Brenda do I have to come and find you? Stop with the doubts and just do it! You are a great writer and you are going to do great! When are you going to send LP to me for a beta read? I can't wait. Big hugs you can do this. You don't give yourself enough credit. You are always giving me such great advice. Believe in yourself! I believe in you girl. Big hugs!

Hey, thanks, Tabby. I can send you LP by the middle of next week. I want to give it another quick read through before I send it to you to beta read. I appreciate you doing that for me by the way. I have never had a beta reader so this is very exciting for me. But if you don't have time right now I totally understand.
Also, I apreciate your confidence in me, lol. Glad someone has some cause I sure don't.
Hey, A.R, what are we going to do? Do we need someone to double dare us to send our MS's out?

Thanks again, Tabby. It's not so much the rejections--hell, I'm EXPECTING them, just like I expect to catch a cold in the fall--no way around it--what I'm afraid of is the way the rejection is worded, LOL.
Here is a peek into my worst nightmare.....
So, I've sent out queries, cool. Now for the replies.....open email, see a reply from an agent who had requested a partial....heart starts beating, I can't breathe......I open it. My gut drops, of course it is a no....but wait, the agent sent along a video. I push play.....camera shows an agent sitting with her head on the desk, her shoulders are shaking.....she glances up, mascara and tears are running down her cheeks. She tries to compose herself and stop laughing. She glances to the side--I'm gathering at her fellow agents--and says, "I don't know if I can get through this without laughing."
Then she looks into the camera, again, trying to stop laughing, fails, and her head hits the desk again. Glances up at camera again, and says, "Okay....sorry. Let me start over." She folds hands on desk, lips still formed into a smile. "Soooo, I read your partial...and, yeah..." starts laughing, glances at her fellow agents again, then looks back at camera. "Anyway, the answer is.....no." laughter from whole room. "It was . . ." chuckles. "The biggest pile of crap I have ever had the misfortune to read..." Uproarious laughter from whole room. She covers her face and shakes her head as she laughs uncontrollably. "Shut it off," she says. "I can't do it....." Camera shakes, pans out over the room, all agents are laughing. Camera goes dead....
Now that my friends is what I'm afraid of.

LOL, maybe not like that, but I often wonder if they do show certain MS's to their fellow agent buddies and have a good laugh over them. Well, I guess what we don't know won't hurt us, lol.

Something we will never know Brenda and that is probably for the best.

Honestly, I joke and rant about my query process, but you will never know until you actaully get out there.

Charli Mac said...

I see the logic, don't send out in case I fail. But that kind of keeps you from succeeding too, no????

A.R. Come RIP Charli a new one over at http://ajandcharli.blogspot.com/2010/07/dinner-with-jaws.html
