Next on Your Reading List: The Help. I guess. My daughter is bugging me to read it. I generally dislike literary fiction. The movie was good, although I found it desperately sad. I always have some form of suspense on my nightstand.

Your Writing
Writing music: Vince Gill, always. Any old country or classic rock always works. Right now, my daughter got me hooked on Adele and Joss Stone, and I recently began listening to Waylon Jennings sing Hank Williams’ oldies. I play it over and over.
Character Inspirations: My dad often shows up in the cowboys I create. And others are a conglomeration of the cowboys and cowgirls I know and admire.
Plot Inspirations: I love suspense of any kind. I’m addicted to TV shows like Dateline mysteries. I’ve always wanted to solve a mystery!
Setting Inspirations: The Colorado Mountains all around me. There’s no place like them. I sometimes use Arizona, too. I spent half my childhood there and I love it, too.
Plotter (carefully plot books) or Pantser (write from the seat of your pants): Seat of my britches! I “see” a scene in my head like a slow-moving movie. I write it, then fill in the rest as I go. Including characters’ names, place, conflict and all the rest. Plotting just doesn’t work for me.
