Today I am having Thanksgiving dinner with my family. This time of year is filled with lots of eating and merry-making, but there is much more to these last months of the year. This time of year is a time for reflection on everything that has happened this year and thinking of the future.
Maybe it’s the shorter days and colder weather that makes one want to curl up before a fire and reflect, and to feel the yearning to be with family and reminisce. Even if you can’t stand your family, this time of year draws you back to them.
Is it because we can’t turn away from those with which we share the same blood, the same triumphs and tragedies? Or maybe something deeper and hard to decipher brings us together.
Whatever it is that brings us together, it is something that shouldn’t be taken for granted. One day family is there and the next, they are gone, leaving only emptiness and heartache.
So, eat, drink, party and reflect this Thanksgiving.
