The One. The Only. Carrie Ann Ryan

The One. The Only. Carrie Ann Ryan

*Security Guard steps onto the stage and rushes over to Brenda.* The helicopter just landed on the roof. We have a team of ten armed bodyguards who'll escort Mrs Ryan from the roof to back stage where ten more armed guards will stand watch.

Brenda: How's the crowd outside?

Security Guard: Shit, they're lined up around the damn block. Who is this chick anyway? She a singer or somethin'?

*Brenda laughs.* Uh, no. She's a paranormal romance novelist.

Security Guard frowns.* A who?

Brenda: She writes romance novels with werewolves who have sex with women.

*Security Guard smiles.* Really? Cool.

Brenda: I'm going to open the doors and get the audience settled in their seats and as calm as I can get them before Carrie comes out. You and the guys make damn sure she is kept hidden until you hear the music start.

Security Guard: You got it, Boss.

An hour later...AC/DC's You Shook Me All Night Long blasts through the speakers, drowning out the yelling and screaming people. Carrie Ann Ryan parts the red curtains and makes her way down the red carpet toward the stage. The crowd stands and erupts with cheers--now drowning out the music. Carrie blows kisses to her adoring fans as she steps on stage. She hugs Brenda, clips on her mic, and takes a seat.

The crowd is wild: screaming and whistling. Carrie stands up and takes a bow.

Brenda stands and motions for the crowd to sit and be quiet. LOL, yeah right. They cheer for another ten minutes before they quiet down.

Brenda: Hello, Carrie Ann Ryan. Welcome to Nocturnal Nights. I'm thrilled to have you here.

Cheers erupt.

Carrie Ann: Thank you so much dear! I love you, you know!

*Brenda blushes and bows her head.*  Love you right back.

Brenda:  Tell our readers a little about yourself.

Carrie: Not much to say. I’m quite boring. I’m a chemist by day, and a paranormal romance author, wife, and kitten mommy by night. I read around 8 books a week and do my best to help out other authors with blogging, hops, and just promo goodies.

Brenda: Where did you come up with the idea for this story? Can you remember what you were doing when the idea struck?

Carrie: I remember thinking that Reed needed someone. I had written every other character and Lia Davis loved them all. And then we forgot about Reed. Yeah, we are horrible. But Reed was just in the middle and there. He’s an amazing wolf, but he needed something else. And then I was writing A Taste for a Mate and found out he was bi.

Crowd cheers again, but quickly settles down.

Brenda raises a brow.

Carrie:  You heard me. It wasn’t until that scene in the art room with Willow that I found that out. And then I knew he needed more than Hannah. And then this Alpha Human Josh came around.
The rest just came along because they characters needed each other.

Brenda: All I can say is, wow.

Brenda: Are any of the characters in your story inspired by anyone in your real life? If yes, what traits of this person did you incorporate into your fictional character?

Carrie: I’ve only used one person. It was a student of mine who was failing and I couldn’t think of anything else to get him believing in himself. I usually bribe with baked goods, but even that didn’t work. So I said, “If you pass this exam, I will write you in my book.” His eyes brightened and he got a freaking 89 on the hardest exam in the class.

Brenda: That's fantastic!

I totally cried for him like a proud momma. So the Redwood wolf who died in A Taste for a Mate is based on his student of mine. (He wanted to die like cannon fodder LOL).

Brenda: Yeah, I'd cry too.

Brenda: What genre is your favorite to write in?

Carrie: Paranormal right now. But I have a few contemporary and western stories in my head.

Brenda: Very interesting to know you have plans for books outside the para genre.

Brenda: What's next for Carrie Ann Ryan?

Carrie: Oh dear Brenda… LOL
In May, A Night Away, a Redwood Pack novella centering on Mel and Kade will come out. Folks wanted more of my first couple so I’m giving it to them. See readers? You ask, and I’ll do my best to work it out!
I’m also working of Dust of My Wings, book 1 in the Dante’s Circle series. An Angel, Shade, needs to find his dust in order to keep the secrets of the supernatural secret, but a lab tech named Lily with big green eyes stands in his way.
In this new world humans aren’t really human and something big may have to happen to change that.

Brenda: Wow, you sure are busy.

Brenda: Let's steer away from your writing for a moment. These next few questions are strictly for fun.

Brenda: Would you ever suntan naked on a nude beach?

Carrie:  Again? O_o I mean….not now.

Crowd screams their approval.

Brenda laughs.

Brenda: Would you ever skinny dip in a lake or ocean?

Carrie: Again? No seriously, I have done all of that. The sun tanning, the lake, and the ocean. But not anymore. I’m married. LOL
Oh, and I’ll deny this as fabrication if my Dad asks.

Brenda laughs again

Brenda: If you invented a time machine but could only use it once to either travel back in time or forward, which would you choose and why?

Carrie: I’ve been asked this before and it’s always the same for me. I want to find myself a sexy Scottish Highlander. Yum.

Brenda: Yeah, who wouldn't, but I would be afraid he wouldn't be all we dream of, LOL. Sorry to burst some of your bubbles.

Brenda: Okay, back to you and your writing. Please leave a blurb for our readers.

Hannah Lewis, a rare earth witch, is taken from the only life she’s ever known. Held at her will by a sadistic wolf, she almost gives up hope that she’d ever see her real life again. But as her fellow captive, a werewolf named Reed, tries to calm her fears, she begins to feel a spark of something she never thought she’d feel – love. But is Reed, alone, enough to get her out of this dark basement so she can move on with her life?
Reed Jamenson, the artist of a werewolf Pack of Alpha males, knows instinctually that Hannah is his mate. Thus, despite their imprisonment, he will do all to protect her and then worry about their hearts. But is he strong enough to find a way for both of them to escape? And why does he feel as though something else is missing?
Josh Kolb, an ex-military human, stumbles upon Reed and Hannah and finds he must trust this new world of supernatural beings to survive. But that desire will lead the three to a triangle of attraction that will test the boundaries they all possess and its consequences in defeating the enemy. Can they all trust one another to save themselves and life as they know it? Even at the cost of their own hearts?

Brenda: How about an excerpt for our readers?

Hannah put her hand on Josh’s arm, a jolt of electricity flashing between the two. She gasped and he held back the urge to do the same. She gave him a smile and he desperately wanted to brush the curls from her face, soothing the bruises that couldn’t hide her radiant beauty. Reed crouched behind her, still protective. He too was beautiful, his chiseled cheekbones pronounced against the shadowed, healing bruises.
Crap. He could understand thinking sexy thoughts about Hannah, but since when did he think males were attractive in any way? Either that weird connection confused him, or he really was falling for Reed. He didn’t know which one, if either, he wanted to be true.
Reed bent over Hannah to whisper to them both. “Camera.”
“Don’t worry about them now. We have about ten more minutes and then we’d have to worry.”
They both looked curious with a similar tilt of their heads, but didn’t say anything, merely nodding.
“Who are you?” Reed whispered, leaning closer.
“Josh.” Why the hell did he say his name? He was never a name, just a presence, on any other mission. Why did he want them to know his name? Know him? “I’m no one. Just a friend.”
“You’re human.” Hannah’s surprised gasp was still whispered.

LOL, I had a blast doing this interview. My only worry was if Carrie's adoring fans would have gotten out of line and stormed the stage.
