Romiel is a gargoyle, an offspring of a Demon father and Vampire mother. Cursed by a powerful human wizard, Romiel and all Gargoyles are imprisoned in stone. And only the touch of a true Soulmate can free him. The moment that Joyce touches Romiel, she knows there is a strong bond between them. Although she tries to justify why loving a Gargoyle is wrong, her heart, soul and body refuse to listen.
Together she and Romiel face an uncertain future, as evil forces are unleashed on the unsuspecting humans. In the midst of an ancient war between the immortal vampires and demons, Romiel must unite with an old enemy in order to protect the human race against certain annihilation. As their love for each other grows stronger, Joy and Romiel must face evil head on to save humanity and the Gods themselves.
Please welcome Paranormal and SyFy author Emma Paul to NN. She is a very talented writer and dear friend of mine. Thanks Emma for taking the time to let readers get to know you a little better. Emma also blogs for NN on the 8th of each month.
Tabitha. Why do you write romance?
Emma. What’s not to love about romance? Love makes the world a better place. That’s what I want my writing to do as well. To make people happy and take them away from the stresses of everyday life. What better way to do then than with a love story?
Tabitha. Oh I agree. A good love story can make a really bad day just disappear. There is nothing like reading about a couple that would go to the ends of the earth and back for each other.
Tabitha. What romance Subgenres do you write in? Why?
Emma. I like to write in various genres. Most of my “straight erotica” works are in contemporary settings. My books are mainly Paranormal, Sci-fi and Fantasy Erotic Romance. I love the supernatural realms and imaginative story lines; I’ve always been a Buffy Fan.
Tabitha. I know what you mean. I am fascinated by the paranormal. The possibilities are endless. You are only limited by your imagination.
Tabitha. Are you aware of any themes that run through your stories? If so, what are they?
Emma. Well, I don’t know I stick to a particular theme or not. But I do have a tendency to write imperfect characters. What I mean is I tend to make my characters with some quirky type flaw. I like to create Heroines with “real” qualities. You most likely will not see a supermodel type Heroine in my stories.
Tabitha. I love a flawed character. If they are too perfect then it just doesn’t seem to ring true to me. And the little quirky flaws are the best kind. Most women don’t really want to read about the super model type anyway.
Tabitha. What would you like readers to take away from your stories?
Emma. I would love for my readers to simple enjoy the stories I create. I want them to be able to pick up the book, read it from start to finish and walk away satisfied. I hope what I bring to the reader is something that creates vivid images in their minds and for at least for a short while, lets them live out their wildest fantasies.
Tabitha. That sounds great! When I pick up a book I am looking for an escape from reality. And with romance we get to step out of the norm and maybe read about something we would never do in real life but with a book anything is possible.
Tabitha. What inspires your stories?
Emma. Reading works by great authors, like Jaid Black, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Sascha Illyvich, Charlene Teglia, Nicole Ash…. and so many more I wouldn’t have enough space to list them all, but the ones I mentioned are the ones I have been reading on a regular basis. To me they are like “under-appreciated” mentors, I love their style, voice and the finesse with which they write a story. They make it LOOK so easy. Yet it takes dedication and years of practice to do what they do. I also am inspired by my own experiences, many of which have prompted me to start writing in the first place.
Tabitha. I think reading is very important to a writer.
Tabitha. If you could have one wish, what would it be?
Emma. I would wish for a long happy, healthy life so I can keep on writing my wild, fantastical tales to share with everyone and anyone who wants to read them.
Tabitha. I think a most writers feel the same. Our writing is a legacy we leave behind.
Tabitha. What is the one thing you most want to do that you haven’t yet?
Emma. I would like to try writing YA books…there seems to be a major trend going on…hmmmm.
Tabitha. You seem to have many genres you write in that is great. I am all for an author that can write in more than one genre.
Tabitha. Please tell us about your most recent release and where we can purchase it.
