Author Interview of Michelle Miles

I want to thank Michelle Miles for taking time out of her busy schedule to stop by and let us know a little more about herself and her work. Michelle is a fellow Cobblestone Press with a work out this Christmas. I know Michelle personally to be a very supportive and open fellow author. I'm so honored to have her here at Nocturnal Nights.

Tell us a little about your writing. What type of stories do you like to write? Any characters you like to write about? Any themes you find especially inspiring?

Hi, Willa! Thanks for having me. Currently, I write contemporary erotic romance and four books and one novella coming soon in my Coffee House Chronicles. The novella, THE COFFEE WARS, is due out in December. The hero, David, is actually from the second book, NICE GIRLS DO.

My characters from the contemporary stories all want one thing: to love and be loved.

What is your favorite part of the writing process? What are your most dreaded tasks? Anything special you do to get through the tough parts?

Creating. I love sitting down when the characters are chattering in my head and writing their story. I generally have an idea of how the story will end, but getting there is usually a surprise and I love that about writing. My most dreaded tasks? Probably promotion. (grin) Also, when I’ve been away from writing for a while, I find it hard to get back into the groove of it. The most important thing is to sit down and push through it. It’s not always easy, though.

What’s a typical day look like for you? What’s your writing schedule? When you’re not writing what are you doing?

When I’m writing, I tend to do it on my lunch hour. I carry my netbook to work and find a quiet place to sit for an hour and write. Also, I like to write in the late evening, after my son goes to bed. It’s the only time I can really focus on that. When I’m not writing, I’m usually cross-stitching. It’s very therapeutic for me.

When and why did you begin writing?

I started writing in junior high creating my own illustrated Indiana Jones adventures with my then-best friend. I moved on to other fan-fiction and then finally started writing my own fiction after high school. Somewhere after that, I stopped and only picked it up again about nine years ago. I was determined to get published. I quickly realized I loved writing romance and was first published by Samhain in 2006. I think when the writing bug bites, it never fully goes away.

What author is your work most like? What author would you like to be more like?

I’m not sure who I’d compare my work to. I like strong, sassy heroines and hot, sexy heroes. I’d love to produce like Nora. :)

Please tell us about your current projects and where we can purchase it. Where can we find you on the web?

I had an August release with Cobblestone Press. SEX, LUST & MARTINIS is available now. You can get it here: http://cobblestone-press.com/catalog/books/sexlust.htm

My next release with Cobblestone is sometime in December which I previously mentioned (THE COFFEE WARS).

Currently I’m working on a time travel set during a jousting tournament during the Middle Ages as well as a book about a female gladiator. You can find me online at http://www.michellemiles.net as well as on Facebook and Twitter.

What do you do to relax?

I like to cross-stitch.

What is your favorite TV show? Why?

Hawaii Five-O because – UM – Alex O’Loughlin is a hottie. ;)

What book are you reading now?

I’m currently reading The Bell at Sealey Head by Patricia A. McKillip. Next up is Diana Cosby’s His Woman

If you could be any paranormal creature, what would you be?

I’d be a Fae!

Thanks so much for stopping by Michelle, it was great get to know you better. I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us at the Bitter End.

I'm so honored you could come by Michelle. It was great to have you here. I hope you feel welcome to stop by any time you want.

And thanks for all your help guiding me as far as my release. The advice of other authors is invaluable.

I am intrigued by the title: "The Coffee Wars. I could conceivably go to war over coffee. It's entirely possible I could become violent if separated from my pot. Meanwhile, I'm cross-stitching three Labradors--black, yellow and brown! Good luck with your books, Michelle.

Thanks, Miriam! Isn't cross-stitching great? I'm making ornaments. Five down, four to go!

Willa - Anytime you need anything, holler :)
