Critique Partners or Lifelong Friends?

Hello and welcome to Tabby’s Nocturnal Nights.  I’m so happy to be here today.  I decided to blog about critique partners because I am so blessed to have found a good one.  It was by chance I came across my critique group online.  New to critiquing I jumped right in, started doing critiques, and receiving them.  I got many critiques in return and learned so much from the feedback I received.  I wondered how they could read the same sentence I did and point out grammar issues, repeats, passive voice, when I read the sentence as perfect!  My writing has improved so much because of my wonderful crit group.

Well, not only did I learn to tighten my writing, I found friends and critique partners who are the most precious anyone could ask for.  Who knew that you could find a BFF in an online group?  That is exactly what happened to me.  My CP is wonderful.  She is tough on me and I trust her to give it to me straight, which is an invaluable tool.  We clicked and I adore her.  And, as a bonus, I found a lifelong friend who is an awesome writer so I can be her biggest fan when she gets published, because she is that good.  We just have to get her work in front of the right people.

The friends I made—and am making—are wonderful.  The entire experience has been great.  I encourage anyone who isn’t in a critique group to look for one because you just never know who you’re going to meet.

I am thankful for my critique groups and want to say thank you to all the wonderful critters who have helped me become a better writer.  How about you?  Do have any critique group BFF’s?  I would love to hear your stories too!

Have a great day!
Jennifer

That sounds terrific.
I'm still looking for good critique partners. I have a wonderful best friend who is honest, but one opinion isn't enough I think.
Maybe some day I will find a critique group like you did - by chance.

Hi Nahno! Thanks for stopping by! Yahoo groups has many options for critique groups of all genres that might help. I hope you find a group and CP too :)

I love my critique group too. :) I also learned so much from all my wondeful critters. Another thing Crit gorups are good for is moral support. Because other writers understand what you are going through. Great post, Jennifer!

Terrific post, Jennifer! I'm finding out the same about the CP's I've met in the crit groups I belong to. Thanks so much for sharing this post :)

Finding your crit group is a GOOD thing. Finding that close circle of crit partners - PRICELESS.

Great post. Jennifer, there is no question in my mind that I would not be the writer or the person I am today with out my crit group. And yes - I have found Bffs all over the country whose faces I've never seen but I love them and tell them more than the people in my own town.
