Why Demons and Vampires are sexy....

I'm sending out a poll out to all my fellow writers of paranormal genres... I'd like to know why you think Demons and Vampires are sexy to write about.

For me it is the whole "bad ass" quality, mixed with the excitement of the forbidden.  What I mean by that is, when we think demons, images of large red muscular beasts with horns, hoofs, and a forked tail pop into our heads.  How is that sexy?  The sexy part isn't so much the way your demon character looks, rather the way he acts.  His ability to seduce the purest virgin. The danger of being the object of affection for some otherworldly creature who wields enough power to destroy the world.  His prowess, his wild untamed nature....All these things wrapped up in a deliciously tantalizing perfectly sculpted and ethereal beautiful creature, who can appear as any sexual fantasy lover you have ever imagined, make for a delicious hero or villain.  The villain in Tabitha Blake's Soul Extraction, is wicked to the bone, yet sexy as hell.  And he is a demon who sucks the soul from unfortunate women.  Still the way he is written into the story, titillates the reader. At least what I've read so far about him, I kinda wouldn't mind being soul sucked by him. But really, he is a true baddie with major attitude.  Her hero is even yummier.

As for Vampires...Well hell just pick up a Kenyon Dark-Hunter book, or one of Amanda Ashley's Vampire novels...you want sexy...sink your teeth into those two Authors' work and call me in the morning.  Vampires represent a darker side of human nature, where sex and nonconformity is the norm, with no care of repercussions, because they aren't really alive in the mortal sense.  They live beyond death.   Who wouldn't want to live for ever as every man or woman's, sexual fantasy, powerfully seductive, super human and not have to adhere to the laws and morals of society.  Hell I would... sign me up!

But what makes you think Demons and Vampires are sexy...Why do you pick up the paranormal books to read.  Let me know!

My curious mind wants to know....

I actually don't think demons are attractive. If anything I think the way they're normally portrayed they're big cry baby whine bags. And I've lost my hard on for most vampires because they are so politically correct. I really won't write about either because I have to want my hero if that makes any sense. But if I had to give a guess as to why they're so attractive to women is because they're larger than life. And more than likely ALWAYS ridiculously alpha.

Great blog Em. And not just because you mentioned my sexy demon Nyx. LOL! I love a sexy paranormal man in any shape or form. But they have to be an alpha through and through to keep my attention. I love to read and write about the paranormal. My biggest reason is it's a total escape from reality. When I am writing about otherworldly creatures my mind is floating in the mist of the unbelievable. No matter how far out the story is there is no way you can go wrong. Your characters can be as wild as your imagination will go. You can make up strange character, strange lands and even words. Not many genres can do that and get away with it. Great blog and thanks for boosting my ego today. Sorry it took so long to comment I have been writing about angels and demons all day. Souls Extraction is on the move again and my imagination is on fire. Got to love that.

Ahh unfortunately it is true they are always alpha. LOL! but I think the attraction to them depends on how they are written.
