Sound Off...I Can't Hear You!

This is the day you get to sound off. Tell us what happened to you last week, we want the good, the bad and the ugly. Tell us what made you mad, sad, happy, we want to hear it all.  This is where we get to come together and support one another. Anything goes, let it all out.

Happy Reading and Writing.

When night falls passions blaze.

So, last week was a pretty good week. I finished my latest round of revisions on my MS and sent it to a friend so she could beta read for me. I'm excited, I have never had someone read my whole MS from start to finish without breaks inbetween chapters. I'm eager to see if it flows properly.

Tabitha Blake said...

I bet that is a great feeling. I love beta reading you get a better view of the story. Instead of chapter by chapter you read it all the way through and the story really comes together for ya! Glad to hear LP is done! What a weight off your shoulders. Big hugs!

Brenda said...

Aw, thanks for that, tabby. You and I sure have been through a lot together on this writing journey. LOL, and we both stuck with it even when we felt like we should just give it up. Glad we both didn't. I'm hoping one day--when we are both published--we can meet, sit down, have a glass of wine, and laugh about all the crap we've been through. Now that will be a successful day in my books! I think we should make that a goal! What do you think?

Tabitha Blake said...

That sounds like a plan. I can't wait. You and me face to face wow what a great day that will be. I send you all these virtual hug. LOL! We have been through a lot together! You always know what to say to pull me from the trenches. Thanks you for that. Without you I would have quit long ago. You are my saving grace. God knew what he was doing when he brought us together. What a blessing you are to me. We started with very little knowledge of the writing process but baby we have learned so much on this crazy journey and along the way I made an amazing friend! You are the reason I am where I am in the insanity we deal with being writers. Thanks for being there through the good and the bad. You go beyond being a friend you are more like a sister! Sending you big hugs and one day you will get a real one. That's a promise!

The Good - finished and submitted a short - untangled some outline knots for WIP - chased after the dad-in-law, without losing him or encountering any rebellion - posted some crits - got a fabulous reply from my tutor on my last assignment

The Bad - My boys have no clue what, "I'll be busy with your grandpa, you need to take care of yourselves and not leave messes for me," means. I KNOW I did NOT dirty thirty glasses and every piece of flatware we own. I was depending on them to pitch in so I'd still have time to write. - I still miss me girlies. - All my indoor responsibilities and a lot of rain have allowed the weeds to get ahead of me in our never-ending race to claim the yard.

The Ugly - Hubby thinks I don't want to have sex anymore. With him, anyway - is how he put it. He thinks it's because I spend so much time critting and writing love stories with sex scenes. Can't it be that I'm just too damn beat at the end of my eighteen hour day? Taking care of his kids, and his dad, and his house - and working on the netbook in between, whenever I'm waiting, wherever those chores take me? Writing can't be a real job, because I enjoy it. I guess I could give up writing to make time for sex ... Nah!

All in all, I'd say it was a pretty good week. :)

Hey ya Troll. Love your good. Where did ya sub your short to?
LOL, man oh man, are men like all the same? My hubby thinks the same thing as yours. And yeah, my days are long and tiring. When I finally crawl into bed, I'm beat. And yep, hubby thinks my writing takes me away from him--I guess in a sense it does, but I so love it--I love him too, but writing and all that comes with it--and there is tons--takes up a lot of my time. It doesn't mean I'm not interested in him, but can't he understand that writing is also a huge passion of mine too?

Penelope said...

LOL - I got even. Since he was feeling so neglected ... I spent about thirty seconds snuggling him before I launched into tickling and just in general being ornery. He doesn't feel so neglected anymore. ;)

Tabitha Blake said...

Too funny P!

Tabitha Blake said...

Brenda don't let anyone take your passion away. He is just a guy and they don't understand but they will when those paychecks start coming in. LOL! My hubby actually told me to go and write today. Wow! Miracles do happen. They get so jealous sometime.

In regards to Annie's post. LOL on the feet. Do you have calloues on your heels and big toes yet?

Annie Nicholas said...

Nope, just blisters on top of blisters.

Tabitha Blake said...

Ouch!

Tabitha Blake said...

Oh Annie I so feel for ya! I am not the outdoors type. Give me air conditioning and a comfy chair and of course my pc. I am a city girl through and through. LOL!

It seems that my days just get busier and busier. Last week was exhausting, I was up most the nights writing. I've got this thing going with Every Night Erotica, the editor wants to see more of my Purity Bush stories. Problem is I have only edited through two for publication. SO I'm trying to work on that, plus working on my own WIP, and to top if off I feel so guilty of not getting my crits to my partners as fast as I need to. THen there is the day job...blah,blah...Damn am I whining or what.... well back to work...

Emma Paul said...

Congrats, on getting your MS to that point, I need to start focusing on one thing at a time, but I feel so short for time....oh there I go whinning again.

I know the feeling Hun! Between my website, blog, wip,and everything else. I don't have time to even breath. Oh and the contest too. I need a secretary. LOL! Please hold my calls and take care of this for me too. Yeah right nothing wrong with dreaming. Right? Oh as far as whining this is the place to do it! Whine away it is sound off Sat. We all deserve a little pity party now and again it keeps us sane.

Brenda said...

Emma, like Carey said, this is the place to whine, and we are all entitled to whine once in awhile, so whine away....lol, say whine over and over in your head and it starts to sound really stupid....anyway, back on topic.
I love having a place to whine. We all need to whine. If we didn't get a chance to whine, then we could explode and then we would be whining cause of the mess...LOL....
I wrote whine a total of 9 times. So see, this is the place to whine, and guilt free whining to boot!!!

Tabitha Blake said...

It is officially whine day! Maybe I will rename it whine saturday. Nah sounded better in my head. LOL! But the more whining the merrier! Its my blog and I say go for it! We all deserve a good whine session. Ok I only got five Brenda is better at it than me. But my hubby would beg to differ on that one. So we just won't tell him. Shhhh! Too funny I think something is wrong with me I am almost done with a beta read, I cleaned my house today, wrote a chapter and still have the giggles. Oh no hope I haven't finally gone totally bonkers. Hummm that's a good possibility. Damn it has finally happened. I was hoping I had a few more years. LOL! Oh well Tabby has finally gone over the edge. Anyone want to join me its kind of fun. She quirks an evil laugh. HeeHee! Ok I am done with my insane rant. I think. Yeah I'm done.

Tabitha Blake said...

Sounds like three is the lucky number girl. I say buy the lotto tickets! LOL!

Brenda said...

LOL, Tabby, I'm there with ya. I'm in the weirdest mood. My husband had to go to bed early because I just couldn't stop bugging him. My oldest son has yelled at me a total of 10 times to stop and leave him alone--lol, he's 18. My youngest is on the computer talking on Skype with some friends and I keep going in his room making strange noises. I laugh my head off, but he gets so mad.
Mika, I hear ya on the horses**t. I was supposed to pick it up yesterday--I do it usually everyday--but I didn't feel like it, thinking I would do it today, so I have to run out and do it now real fast before it gets dark, oh and water the vegi garden and the billions of flower gardens...why do I plant so much...grrrrr.
Oh well, at least that will give my family an hour break from me, lol.

Tabitha Blake said...

I would say it is something in the water but we are too far away from each other. LOL! I have been off the wall all day. The hubby asked me what the hell got into me today. I was about to say something dirty to him but didn't. You know the old joke. Never mind I am rambling again. I have been on a crazy bender all day. But heck I got a lot done today. It is nice to have a fun day for no reason. I have been batty all day. Glad to know some one else is going a little loopy today too. Hey we are so much alike it is a little scary but don't worry you are in good company. Today is sound off day and we have done our fare share or babbling today! Hey maybe we made some one else laugh that needed a good laugh today. I aim to please! Big hugs girlie!

The good: Another week of kid's vacation down.

The bad: Just 2 weeks of vacation down, still 1 more to go.

The ugly: Kids traipse around with a time-warp speed drive, I think. How else do you explain that time just flies by when you feel you've gotten nothing done? Saw next-to-nothing progress on the WIP, and just a couple crits done, and an invisible dent made into the to-read pile. Sigh...

Hoping next week will be better.

Thanks for this opp to vent, girl. It's good to come over and see other writers too are living 'normal' lives just like me! :)

We all live day to day. Sometimes I get nothing done and so that is life. I really like the idea of sound off Sat. But I have to give credit to Brenda she come up with the idea. It is nice to have a day too whine, brag, tell happy stories or just say whatever is on your mind. We all need to vent and have other tell us they go through the same thing. Sometimes a writers life can feel so lonely. But we are all here for each other. Isn't it nice! Thanks everyone for making sound off Sat so successful. See ya next Sat.

Tabitha Blake said...

J that is great! Doesn't that feel great!

Brenda said...

Yay, J, lots of great accomplishments!!!
Okay, let's see...well, I have done like no writing, editing, or critting the past four days. Actually, I don't feel bad about it. I have been working like stink on my novel so I need a few days off to catch up with other things-which I have been so all is good.
The bad, hmmmm, well, I bought a novel the other day, but I just can't get into it. I guess it will be added to my "can't finish" pile. Sigh.

Tabitha Blake said...

Yeah I hate buying a book and being let down!

Zee Monodee said...

WTG J!!! You're really rocking it, lady!!

WTG girl!! You're rocking!! Congrats on the brilliant exam result.

Thanks, everyone. It is great to know my brain hasn't gone to mush. Though the housework is suffering greatly (as if it hadn't already), lol, but I can live with that! You know, I do find it annoying when I buy a book I find I can't read all the way through. Over the years there's only been a few and I've passed them on to friends who sometimes love them and will buy the authors back list--so, still money well spent in promoting a fellow author's work!

Tabitha Blake said...

WooHoo! We get a break! I know the feeling girl! LOL!

Hmmm...this week.

Good Stuff:
1.) I became part of NN!
2.)My husband took me out to dinner and shagged *blush* me...really...really well (<--*drool* I love alphas)
3.) Wrote about 6k for shortie, and ran it by the crit partners who loved it. :)
4.) Tlked to my mom on the phone today about her "bed behavior"...<--Nothing is off limits to her. lol

Bad Stuff:
1.) Got a horrible crit back from a new crit partner (we're no longer working together)
2.) Had some weird dreams
3.) Sasha, my dog, had a couple of accidents on the rug. *sigh*
4.) Did not make word quota this week.

All in all, I think it was a pretty good week. :)

That's some list JC. LOL!

Brenda said...

LOL, JC, awesome list of good and bad stuff. But definitely the good out weighs the bad.
This week for me has just been so so. Haven't really accomplished much. Next week will be mostly eaten up by getting my boys ready for school so I can't see getting much writing done.
Oh well, I will soon have the house to myself during the day again. and with winter on its way, my yard work will be zero so I guess that's one good thing about winter....
