Interview of Jennifer LaBelle

I'm so honored to have Jennifer LaBelle here at Nocturnal Nights. She's a great writer, with some awesome books, and even more coming. She's had an amazing year and I'm sure she'll have many more to come.

Tell us a little about your writing. What type of stories do you like to write? Any characters you like to write about? Any themes you find especially inspiring?

Well, I’ve been writing for quite some time, but it wasn’t until my third child and only daughter was born that I decided to pursue it professionally. I like to read a variety of genres but I write mostly erotic contemporary romance. I find second chances especially inspiring, I mean we’d all like to have one at one part of our lives, right? And my characters tend to be strong lovable and sexy. *winks*

What is your favorite part of the writing process? What are your most dreaded tasks? Anything special you do to get through the tough parts?

My favorite part? I guess it would be a tie between plotting it out, and writing “The End” The plot process is fun because I can play it out in my head like it’s my very own movie, yet there’s something that always changes along the way no matter what. It’s still so much fun to see it all come together though, and when it comes to completing whichever WIP I’m working on the excitements there because—well because I actually completed it. That in itself is a huge accomplishment and whether it becomes published or not it’s still huge to me. The most dreaded task is the waiting process. I’m not the most patient woman around…lol Although the two pubs I have so far are pretty good at getting back to me fairly quickly, so I’m lucky. There’s not really anything one can do about getting through the tough parts except wait it out, or work on the next project. Sometimes I even reward myself with a good read in between.

What’s a typical day look like for you? What’s your writing schedule? When you’re not writing what are you doing?

My typical day revolves around my family. I get up and get my two sons ready for school and to the bus stop, and then the rest of my day is consumed with quality time with my daughter or housework. I usually do my writing at night when they’re asleep if I can. I’m really not all that exciting.

What would you like readers to take away from your stories?

I’d love for them to take away a good fantasy, a temporary escape from reality and into the romance that I try hard to make good for them.

What inspires your stories?

Life J

What is your favorite way to promote?

Blog hopping, or interviews. I’ve met a lot of wonderful people this way.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

When I got published J

What author is your work most like? What author would you like to be more like?

Um, I’d like to think my work is unique enough to not be compared. I’m honestly not sure who my work is most like. I grew up loving Danielle Steel, Diana Palmer, and Nora Roberts to name a few. I’m a huge fan of Kathy Love, Kerri Arthur, Lauren Dane, and so many more. I’ve met and gotten to know so many talented people that it would take forever to name them all, but I like being myself.

Please tell us about your current projects and where we can purchase it. Where can we find you on the web?

Sure thing.

Spice It Up –

Heidi Taylor has fallen in love with a man who is off limits. He’s her best friend, and she’s afraid to tell him how she really feels. So when she hits a dry spell in her romantic life, Nathan makes it his duty to spice things up for her, shocking her, and making her true feelings known.

Nathan De Costa met the most amazing woman alive three years ago when he placed a roommate wanted ad in the newspaper. He’s secretly loved Heidi for almost two years, and decides to make his move once her love life hits a rough patch. The problem is that his sexual tastes are risqué and he’s not sure that Heidi would be able to keep up. She shocks him by becoming everything he’s ever wanted and more, but it’ll take almost losing her for good before he finally makes her his, permanently.

I’ll now treat you with an excerpt from my newest release “Spice It Up”:

I’m going to kill him, she thought as she watched her long time best friend approach with a smile on his sinfully gorgeous face. Nathan De Costa oozed sex appeal, tall with thick black hair, gorgeous green eyes that sparkled, and a confident smile that told everyone in the room he knew how attractive he was, sauntered towards her with a cocky sway. That smile though, gah, she loved it, but wanted to smack it off of his smug face right then. Her gaze travelled down his lickable torso to his muscular thighs encased in the jeans he seemed to fill out in all the right places. She resisted the urge to lick her lips.

It really sucked being in love with a man you knew would never return your feelings, at least not in the same way. Sure he loved her, he just wasn’t in love, so she worked hard to get over it.

Heidi Taylor moved from Maryland to the small town of Port Jervis three years ago with barely a penny to her name. She replied to an ad looking for a roommate, and that’s how she’d met Nathan. At first sight she fell in instant lust with the man. He was confident, respectful, and sexy as hell. What was there not to like? They’d hit it off instantly and eventually her lustful crush turned into so much more, but her fantasies came to a screeching halt once she realized he was gay. It seemed like all the good ones were.

She sighed, thinking about it. Her love life sucked; in fact, that’s why she was stuck in a club she knew nothing about. Nathan recommended it hoping she’d get laid. Dateless, for the last six months her battery supply ran high and his advice was she needed something to spice it up a little, of course meaning someone to fulfill some much neglected desires. B.O.B just wasn’t as good as he used to be. The truth is she missed the real thing, but she was pretty selective about whom she allowed into her bed, regardless of loneliness.

Nathan had a mischievous look about him while he talked her into it, and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Instead he dragged her shopping for something sexy to wear, and promised he’d meet her there for a couple of drinks to loosen her up.

So there she was sitting on a bar stool, completely out of place in her short skirt, four inch fuck-me heels, and low cut slim fitting shirt that left little to the imagination, while everyone else seemed to be comfortable in jeans, sneakers, and T-shirts.

He was an hour late, and she felt like a hooker.
